C Green
C-Green provides cost-effective and climate-smart handling of wet waste. Its energy-efficient OxyPower HTC™ process converts wet sludge into a solid, sterile, odourless material that can be used as soil improvement or biofuel. Municipalities, agriculture, industries and food producers now have the opportunity to recover energy and recycle the plant nutrients nitrogen and phosphorus from the sludge, while at the same time reducing climate impact and eliminating pollution.
Globally, industries and municipal wastewater treatment plants (MWWTPs) produce billions of tonnes of wet sludge each year, causing GHF emissions and spreading toxic and infectious substances in the environment. Today’s sludge storage causes up to 200 kg of GHG per tonne of sludge. C-Green’s technology effectively puts an end to that. Not only that, one C-Green plant can produce 600 tonnes of commercial ammonia water per year which can replace fossil-fuel based ammonia.
With current sludge handling most of the useful resources in sludge are lost. Sludge can be contaminated by viruses, bacteria, heavy metals and other hazardous substances. Using Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC), OxyPower HTC™ not only sterilizes the sludge, it also concentrates unwanted substances so they can be taken care of responsibly instead of being spread in the environment.
C-Green’s headquarters are located just outside of Stockholm. The company runs an industrial scale plant for pulp mill sludge in at Stora Enso’s fluting mill in Heinola, Finland, a state-of-the-art laboratory and a mobile pilot plant that can test sludge on-site.
