Pontus Frohde and Patrik Lindergren, with extensive backgrounds from Charge Amps and Charge storm, founded Vialumina in 2020 when they saw an urgent need for commercial fleets to operate more efficiently and accelerate the shift towards fossil free vehicles.

Deliveries, transports, rental fleets etc all need to be electrified but typically they are not transformed at once, and fleets end up consisting of a complex mix of different fuels and charging solutions.

After talking to fleet owners it became obvious that many still were stuck in the analog world with printed excel sheets and post-it notes. The need was not only electrification, but organizing and connecting the entire fleet. Our solution lies in intelligent use of data from existing vehicles while at the same time starting the shift towards a fossil free fleet without compromising operational efficiency” says Pontus Frohde, CEO of Vialumnia.

Actually, when analyzing the market when they started in 2020, only 0,024 % of commercial vehicles were electric. With extensive regulation coming up at the same time as the personnel situation is difficult, there is a great need for a partner to help fleet owners in the transition.

The transport industry is suffering from a huge shortage of personnel, there are just not enough drivers out there. There is much planning involved in order to be able to EV charge efficiently, and chauffeurs just have little patience to be waiting two hours for charging. Planning becomes crucial and in the environment as many chauffeurs wish to stay with fossil driving as they are used to. That actually often means more to the fleet owners than the consumers demands for sustainable transports. They need comforting systems to plan EV charging in order to implement an electrical fleet. Coming up are regulations as many EU cities are looking at fossil free city centers.

Road transport calculates to 1/3 of CO2 emissions and in 2026 the EU taxonomy will demand reports on emissions. This means that our systems need to be able to do data collection, fleet management, fleet intelligence, resource asset management and ESG reporting, and today data collection from any vehicle is technically possible.” says Patrik Lindergren, CTO of Vialumnia.

Connected vehicles will be the future in many ways. Vialumnia is to 90 % self financed so far, but they are looking to acquire new investments and to be a part of Sweden Sustaintech Venture Day is a great opportunity to meet with potential investors. The first seed round will run for around 10 to 15 millions which will be used solely to acquire new customers, and many dialogues with larger actors is happening now.

We are calling it fleet intelligence. For example, we help an electrical installation company with 200 vehicles to collect data in every second, there are batteries in each car and they need to be connecting and collecting data to attain maximum efficiency and sustainability. We know now that the potential is huge both in Sweden and internationally as so many fleets need to be connected” Pontus Frohde finishes.
