Block 1. Outlook for the future energy mix and investment overview

In the first stage session on Energy generation & Investment, there will be a strong international perspective of the renewable energy industry. Paul Stormoen, CEO of the wind power unicorn company OX2 will reflect on the opportunities for the sector, future of the renewable industry and the role of capital markets in expansion. We will then get a Southern European perspective from Pedro de Mello Breyner, Executive Board Member of Portugal Ventures who will talk about the investment opportunities and what the success factors will be through a required transition of the energy market, as well as a comparison between the Northern and the Southern European markets. We will have the perspective from the European Investment Bank, and the possible funding opportunities for fast growing businesses and the focus areas until 2027. The block will be elegantly finished off with this year’s figures on industry growth and investments by Cleantech Scandinavias CEO Magnus Agerström and SSVD Founder Boel Swartling of STING who follows over 700 tech companies in this sector for the selection of pitching companies.

Block 2. Transmission challenges and strategies for sustainable investments

From an investor’s perspective, Julia Reinaud, Senior Partner of Breakthrough Energy Venture Partner will talk about the five grand challenges and BEV’s view of required investments, solutions and initiatives for securing net zero until 2050. What are the opportunities at hand and how can investors and entrepreneurs work together, across borders and over time? More speakers are to be announced in due time.

Block 3. Pitching companies present their cases

As always, the event will present 30 scale up companies’ pitches to investors, in three cathegories. Sweden Sustaintech Venture Day is since the start 6 years ago, an investor only event, and exclusively investors with a budget for sustaintech companies are invited. The companies have been carefully selected and will give an exciting overview of investable and successful companies meeting today’s biggest challenges in sustaintech. Here all fields are represented, circular economy, energy, data & AI solutions and new materials.

Block 4. Energy storage & Funding – the solution to full scale renewable energy

A major storage company will share their challenges and opportunities within storage. Not until energy may be stored at large, grid-scale capacity, may the full potential of renewable energy be fulfilled. How to serve an international fast-growing market and ensure know-how, material, logistics, facilities, energy and funding? Adam Kostyal, CEO of Nasdaq will share some facts on current listing track records for sustaintech, from the most successful business areas, to the expectations for the coming years. He will also highlight the alternatives such as green bonds. Linda Fanney-Valgeirsdottir, CEO of Alor Iceland, entrepreneurs in battery technology, will talk about what the limitations and opportunities are with storing electricity, and what new materials may provide new properties suited for the future applications.

The day will be finished off by Magnus Rehn of Sting and Linda Krondahl of SSVD2023 giving some food for thoughts, conclusions and inspiring climate tech initiatives.
